West Bromwich Albion linked with move for Turkish midfielder

West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a move for Turkish midfielder Tolgay Arslan according to Turkish website Fanatik.

Since the confirmation of Slaven Bilic’s appointment, transfer rumours have been rife and Tolgay Arslan is one of the main names that have been reported.

He primarily plays as a central defensive midfielder for Fenerbahce and possesses attributes and qualities which are currently lacking in the Baggies midfield. With his European pedigree and experience he could prove to be a shrewd signing should the move be successful.

Having released James Morrison and Gareth Barry this summer West Brom are looking to recruit players with some experience to bed in with the youth players they have at their disposal.

Since Claudio Yacob left the club there has been a piece missing in the jigsaw with a lack of bite to the Albion midfield. A player who isn’t afraid to put in a tackle and win back possession is something which could really help the Baggies cause next season as they prepare for another year in the Championship.

Bilic also worked with Arslan at Besiktas in 2015 so he is aware of the kind of player he is which would benefit West Brom with them having formed a relationship previously.

With only Brunt still providing much needed experience and it being probable that Livermore may depart, it leaves West Brom with a lot of youth players in their midfield so Arslan would surely help in that area.

Stefan Johansen has returned to parent club Fulham and Rekeem Harper has also been the subject of transfer speculation so midfield reinforcements are certainly required and Arslan may just fit the bill.
