Pursuit of Leeds United’s £20 million star put on the back burner by top club

Premier League club Spurs will hold off their pursuit of Leeds United’s young winger Jack Clarke until later in the transfer window, The Sun has reported.

Champions League finalists Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Leeds United starlet Jack Clarke, along with many other Premier League sides. But, it has now been claimed that the will wait to go after the winger.

Spurs will instead prioritise their pursuit of £60 million-rated midfielder Tanguy Ndombele – who currently plays for Ligue 1 side Lyon. He is also on the radar of Premier League sides Manchester United and Manchester City, along with a number of other top European clubs.

Only once they have gone after the French midfielder will Spurs pursue a deal for Jack Clarke and Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon – who looks set to leave Fulham after their relegation to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League.

While Spurs’ stance regarding their pursuit of Clarke is smart, prioritising a midfielder proven in the Champions League over the Championship youngster, it could mean Clarke’s future is resolved before they end their pursuit of Ndombele.

A number of Premier League sides including Crystal Palace have also been linked with the 18-year-old and they could look to pounce with Spurs set to put their pursuit on the back burner. The Whites academy graduate could, of course, remain at Elland Park this summer, with Marcelo Bielsa a big fan of the youngster.

Clarke impressed for Leeds United in his first season of senior football for the club. He played 25 times in all competitions, putting on a number of impressive displays for Bielsa’s side. Along the way, he netted two goals and laid on two assists.
