Leeds United thanked as player leaves club

Leeds United’s season just gone has been one where a bunch of players who finished 13th the season before were wrought into a side who finished in 3rd.

That 3rd place finish was enough to land the Whites in the play-offs, the Elland Road outfit going out 4-3 over two legs to Derby County. Season over, thoughts now turn to the summer ahead and plans for next season – the club’s centenary year.

The major thanks need to go out to legendary Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa and the brand of football that he brought to the club. Yet, even he wouldn’t have been able to do this without the players.

That includes those drafted in to the club, both permanent transfers such as Patrick Bamford and Barry Douglas. It also included loanees such a Jack Harrison. It is Harrison who has used his Instagram account to say thank-you to Leeds United.

Not only is Harrison’s Instagram post a thank-you for both fans and the club, it is also a goodbye that indicates that he’s unlikely to return to Elland Road.

Harrison joined on a season-long loan from treble winners Manchester City. He featured in 37 appearances for the Whites, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

Some fans weren’t entirely convinced with his level of consistency, yet the major thought on that comes down to the fact that Marcelo Bielsa placed a lot of trust in the Stoke-born youngster – Harrison playing 60% of the available minutes and being named in 70% of the starting XIs.

That, alongside Harrison’s Instagram post, would indicate that there’s a gap to be filled on Leeds’ right flank.
