Bristol City to miss out on hotshot Chelsea striker

According to Bristol Live, Bristol City are set to miss out to the Bundesliga on the capture of Chelsea’s young hotshot striker Martell Taylor-Crossdale.

It was only earlier this month that the lethal 19-year-old was linked to Ashton Gate, although that link now looks somewhat broken.

Instead, the London-born youngster, who’s come up through the ranks at Stamford Bridge, looks to be joining the growing talent drain heading from these shores to the 1.Bundesliga in Germany.

Players such as Jadon Sancho, most successfully, plus others such as Reece Oxford and Reiss Nelson, have been lured to Germany where the chance of first-team football is often too good to turn down.

Taylor-Crossdale is said to be heading out soon for a medical and a deal with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, having turned down a contract offer from the Blues.

He’s featured 12 times in Chelsea’s Premier League 2 campaign this season, failing to trouble the scorers. However, drop back an age group and he’s worthy of the hotshot tag. In 52 games for Chelsea’s Under-18s, he scored 35 goals and provided six assists.

That sort of threat would have served Bristol City well, as it likely will Hoffenheim. The German side currently stand 5th in the 1.Bundesliga table with two games left to play.

Hoffenheim will be hoping that Taylor-Crossdale has a similar effect to Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund where the former Manchester City Under-18 player has scored 11 goals and provided 17 assists in this season’s 1.Bundesliga competition.

For Bristol City, it will be a case of looking through the summer for a regular goalscorer to fire them hopefully closer to the play-off picture than the 8th place they finished this season.
