Swansea City striker set to link up with Xavi and Gabi in Qatar

Swansea City are close to agreeing a deal to sell Wilfried Bony to Qatari side Al-Sadd, according to Sky Sports.

The Championship side have been looking to offload Bony this month. He has played just seven times for the Swans this season, scoring once.

Swansea want to get rid of him to free up the wages to help narrow down their wage bill to help Graham Potter bring in some more players in this transfer window.

Bony, who is an Ivory Coast international with 52 caps to his name, is under contract with Swansea until the end of this season.

He moved back to the Welsh side in August 2017 after they paid a fee of around £12 million to re-sign him from Manchester City but he couldn’t prevent them from relegation from the Premier League last season. He had spent the previous campaign on loan at Stoke City.

Bony’s first spell at the Liberty Stadium was much more successful. He signed for them from Vitesse in July 2013 and scored 34 goals in 70 games which earned him a £25 million move to the Etihad Stadium.

His time in Manchester didn’t really work out and he has since struggled to rekindle his early Swansea form so perhaps it is time for Bony to move to Qatar.

Al Sadd are currently top of the table and is home to Spain and Barcelona legend Xavi and former Atletico Madrid midfielder Gabi. Can Bony fire the goals to help them win the league title in this campaign?
