Erik ten Hag has doubled down on Jadon Sancho's form not being 'the issue' amid the winger's uncertain Manchester United future.

The Red Devils boss and winger publicly fell out in October, with Sancho being exiled from first-team training after criticising his manager for claiming he didn't train well enough to the media.

Sancho has been on loan with his former club Borussia Dortmund since January and went one step closer to becoming the first player contracted to Manchester United to reach the Champions League final since 2011 on Wednesday.

Dortmund beat Atletico Madrid 5-4 on aggregate in the quarter-finals. They will face Paris Saint-Germain in the semis on May 1.

But when asked if his winger's current improvement in form would change his situation at Manchester United, Ten Hag had a clear answer.

"Of course, I follow international football and follow the players on loan at other clubs," Ten Hag confirmed.

"It was a fantastic game - Dortmund against Atletico Madrid. Great performance from Dortmund and for Jadon it's good news, he made his contribution to the result for Dortmund.

"No [nothing has changed]. But we know Jadon Sancho is a fantastic football player, so that is not a surprise for us.

"That is not the issue."

The Man United boss wished the 24-year-old well when he departed for Germany in January.

Since then, Sancho has scored in the Champions League last-16 in the 2-1 win over PSV and netted again in one of the six league games he's started since February.

He's also registered two assists as he's began to find his form again after a tricky first half of the season.

He suffered with his mental health last term, too, with Ten Hag stating he was not available due to 'physical and mental' factors. He registered seven goals and three assists in the 2022/23 season.

For now, Ten Hag and co will be focusing on their FA Cup semi-final clash against underdogs Coventry at Wembley this Sunday, which is live on talkSPORT.
