Luton v Brentford preview

Brentford's 2-0 win against the Premier League's bottom club last weekend moved them seven points clear of the relegation zone heading into Saturday afternoon's bout, likely all but confirming their place in next season's top flight after a brief scare.

Thomas Frank's side's win over Sheffield United takes their unbeaten run to four matches heading into this weekend, in which they occupy 15th place, just a point behind London neighbours Crystal Palace one place above them.

The Bees make the trip to Bedfordshire on Saturday having won just one of their last 12 matches away from home in all competitions dating back to October, including defeats in four of their last five

Luton will be looking to bounce back pronto from their 5-1 defeat at the home of the defending champions Manchester City last weekend but building on their 2-1 win over Bournemouth in their most recent outing at Kenilworth Road.

Last weekend's defeat kept Rob Edwards' side in the relegation zone, where they sit one point from Nottingham Forest and safety, leaving the possibility that a win on Saturday will take them out of the bottom three, with only one of their remaining five fixtures against teams in the top half of the table currently.

Only the bottom two sides have picked up fewer points at home than the Hatters, who will need to add to their tally of four wins in 16 home league games this season to give them the best chance of surviving in the top flight for another season.

Brentford have won six of their last seven matches against Luton, including each of their last three, though the Bees are winless in four of their last six visits to Kenilworth Road.

📝 Luton v Brentford betting tips

Only three teams have conceded more goals in the Premier League this season than Brentford, one of which being Luton, leaving both teams to score a likely profitable bit.

Carlton Morris is one goal shy of hitting double figures for the season, the most on either team, including the last minute winner in their match with Bournemouth a fortnight ago, and has scored five goals in his last six league games at Kenilworth Road.

No player on either side has been on the receiving end of a yellow card more often than Ross Barkley this season, and Betfair's offer of an 11/1 treble on both teams to score, Morris to score and Barkley to be carded appears to hold some value.
